Candidate responses to the APT questionnaire are in! Please take the time to read over the thoughtful responses the candidates provided. Click APT Questionnaire Responses 0523 to read the opinions and perspectives of 19 mayoral and city council candidates. It’s a great start to building relationships and getting information out about our association and its areas of concern.

Outreach to Candidates

Huge thank you to the 15 APT members who donated 66 free tours for mayoral and city council candidates! Fifty mailings were sent out.

Please Help with APT Outreach!

The ad hoc APT Elections Outreach Committee is preparing information about APT to send to the Philadelphia mayoral and city council candidates. Along with it, we would like to send ‘gift certificates’ for free tours with our members. The purpose of this initiative is for candidates to have an opportunity to:

  • see firsthand how tour guides work,
  • learn about tour guide concerns,
  • experience the city through the eyes of a visitor,
  • explore some new topics and areas in the city, and
  • hear more inclusive narratives being told in Philadelphia today.

To read all about it, click on this submission form which explains the initiative in more detail. Fill it out if you are willing to help! Docents and guides at historic sites can participate (if the site manager is in agreement), as well as guides who lead tours around the city independently or as contractors and employees of tour companies. While it is unlikely that many of the certificates will be used, offering them is a great way to promote APT and tour guiding in the city! Deadline to submit is Tuesday April 11.

APT Questionnaire Update

Thanks to everyone who submitted questions for candidates and to the ad hoc committee (Patrick Coue, Nick Cvetkovic, Greta Greenberger, Anita McElvey, and Josh Silver) that helped Marianne edit and distribute them! The APT questionnaire was sent to 8 mayoral and 56 city council candidates last week. Candidate responses are due by April 23 and will be printed in the weekly email on May 1. Election primaries are Tuesday, May 16.
