American Vegan Center

Vance Lehmkuhl, Director
Services: American Vegan Center (AVC) offers Veg History tours in Old City, walking the same streets as historic figures such as Benjamin Lay, Anthony Benezet, the Grimke Sisters, Sylvester Graham, Bronson Alcott, Alfoncie Austin and even Benjamin Franklin — all these and more helped move Philadelphia’s vegetarian and vegan history forward. Many people, even vegetarians and vegans, are unaware that the US vegetarian movement started in Philadelphia in 1817.
Additional Info: In addition to our scheduled tours we can schedule group tours and private tours to suit individual needs. Mention finding AVC on this website when calling or emailing to book a tour and get 40% off. For more information, check out our website.
