Women’s Committee for the 250th
Launched in 2024 by PHILADELPHIA250, the Women’s Committee for the 250th is a diverse group of women committed to creating a lasting legacy for our nation’s 250th anniversary. Recognizing that financial independence and economic empowerment are crucial for exercising the fundamental rights outlined in the Declaration of Independence, each member contributes $250 to a fund that provides grants to women-owned small businesses. To date, over 200 women have joined the committee, which aims to reach a total of 250 members.

Art Philly
ArtPhilly was recently awarded $20,000 by America250PA to support three innovative initiatives:
- The Sound of History: ArtPhilly is teaming up with the Museum of the American Revolution and Black Music City for a unique project that creates audio-based art inspired by sounds from America’s founding.
- Dance Meets History: PhilaDanco! and the Martha Graham Dance Company collaborate to reinterpret American Document, a classic 1938 work by Martha Graham. This partnership, supported by ArtPhilly and Penn Live Arts, blends significant cultural elements and breathes new life into historical narratives through dance.
- SKETCH 2025 Mini-Fest: Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 14! ArtPhilly will offer a preview of its 2026 festival programming at SKETCH 2025. The event will showcase a selection of artists and organizations involved in next year’s summer arts festival, What Now: 2026.
Why This Matters: These initiatives serve as a catalyst for broader community involvement and education, emphasizing the city’s role as a dynamic hub for historical and cultural innovation.
