Philadelphia Revealed: Unpacking the Attic

The Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides (APT) invites members to a special curator-led tour of the exhibit “Philadelphia Revealed: Unpacking the Attic” at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts on Friday, November 8, at 1 pm. More than 600 historical objects are on display from the Atwater Kent Collection, now stewarded by Drexel University. You will be reminded of many milestones of Philadelphia’s past, such as the Market Street department stores, the Centennial Exhibition, and the city’s reputation as a Workshop of the World. You will also be surprised and amazed by less familiar artifacts and artworks now on display. The exhibit is scheduled to close on December 1, so make sure to take this opportunity to see it in the company of your fellow guides!
Before you go, learn more about the former Philadelphia History Museum in The Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia.
There is no cost for participants. The tour is capped at 20 attendees. Those interested should rsvp to APT President Marianne Ruane at president@phillyguides.org.
