Philly tour guides hold first-ever job fair to prepare for huge expected 2026 crowds
Program starts 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24
at Old Reformed United Church of Christ
PHILADELPHIA, February 17, 2024 – The Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides (APT) wants to be sure the city has enough qualified, engaging guides to tell the city’s story in 2026.
That’s the 250th birthday of the U.S., also known as the Semiquincentennial – when huge crowds are expected to swarm the area.
To accommodate these tourists (and locals, too), APT is holding its first-ever job fair Saturday, Feb. 24, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m, at the Old First Reformed United Church of Christ, 151 N. 4th Street, Philadelphia.
Calling all history lovers and performers
If you love history and have ever thought you might want to become a tour guide, now’s the time to find out. The job fair costs non-members just $5.
Visitphilly.com is the primary sponsor for APT’s job fair.
You’ll get a chance to talk to tour-related companies and historic sites about jobs as guides, docents and more, and meet both new and experienced guides.
Want more? Attend workshops, street tours and a special panel discussion on 2026 plans
A package price for all eight events – including workshops, street training and a Saturday morning panel update on 2026 Philly plans – is $75 for non-members and $50 for members.
Check out the complete schedule of APT programs set for Thursday through Sunday, Feb. 22 to 25. (Note: $5 walk-ups – payable in cash – are accepted only at the Job Fair.)
