The Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides (APT) has kicked off its campaign to have all of its members certified by 2025. We will be offering the certification exam every year on a consistent schedule in mid-March and mid-September. Start studying now!
We have a promotion going on to entice you further: purchase an online handbook and the certification exam for $50 in the APT Store – usually $25 and $35 respectively (for members). The non-member promotion is $65. Both the online handbook and exam must be purchased to receive the promotion. The hard copy handbook is not part of the promotion. This offer expires August 31.
The first certification exam took place at the Christ Church Neighborhood House on April 12, 2011, and 29 examinees passed. As of March 2024, APT has certified 233 Philadelphia tour guides and 7 master guides. Currently about half of our members are certified – let’s raise that percentage!
And for those of you who are certified – congratulations and thank you for supporting our association as we raise the bar on tour quality in Philadelphia. It’s really wonderful to see so many guides out and about with their certification pins and APT lanyards!
