Those who are interested in food, drink, and pre-meeting social time can meet at 5:30 at Red Owl Tavern, 433 Chestnut St. 

The Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides (APT) will hold its next monthly meeting on Wednesday April 13 at 7 pm. The meeting will be held at The Athenaeum of Philadelphia, 219 S. 6th Street. The meeting will include a tour of this historic site, a short talk by Jim Murphy on his book, Real Philly History, Real Fast, a book-signing, and a quick business meeting. We’ll end by 8:45 pm.

Jim’s Talk: Learn why he started this book, why it took 11 years to finish, and the best question he’s received during nine presentations and four radio interviews.

Due to size constraints, only the first 40 APT members who sign up by emailing Jim Murphy at will be admitted to The Athenaeum.

If you want to buy a book for $20, let Jim know at least a week ahead and he’ll bring one for you. Otherwise, you can try local bookstores, bookshop.org or amazon.com. If you have a copy of Jim’s book already, he will happily sign it for you.

APT meetings are open to aspiring and working tour guides as well as anyone with an interest in Philadelphia-focused history. Attend one meeting for free and then it is $50 to join the association for the year or $10 per monthly meeting in-person event. Zoom meetings are free.
