“Religious Cults in Philadelphia” with author Thom Nickels

On Wed. April 14, the Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides (APT) will kick off its monthly meeting at 7 pm with a lecture, “From Mother Divine to the Corner Swami: Religious Cults in Philadelphia,” by author of the book by the same name, Thom Nickels.
Thom Nickels is a Philadelphia based author/journalist/playwright and a recipient of the 2005 Philadelphia AIA Lewis Mumford Award for Architectural Journalism. He’s the author of fifteen books including Literary Philadelphia (2015), the novel SPORE (2014), Philadelphia Architecture (2005) and Philadelphia Mansions (2017). He writes for City Journal, New York, the Philadelphia Irish Edition, the Philadelphia Free Press and Delaware Valley Journal.
On Wednesday, April 14th he’ll be talking about his latest book, “From Mother Divine to the Corner Swami; Religious Cults in Philadelphia,” published in 2020 by Arcadia: https://www.arcadiapublishing.com/Products/9781634992633.
Following the talk will be the APT meeting and some social time on zoom. APT meetings are open to aspiring and working tour guides as well as anyone with an interest in Philadelphia-focused history. For the foreseeable future all meetings are free for anyone and all are welcome!
