Private Bus Tour with Kennett Underground Railroad Center
February 19 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm$15
The Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides (APT) has scheduled a private bus tour with Kennett Underground Railroad Center for Sunday February 19 at 11 am. (Bad weather make up date is March 12.) The tour is 2.25-2.5 hours and makes 3 stops: the Cox House, the Pines house, and Marlborough Meeting. Other sites important to the Underground Railroad are driven by and discussed. These popular, family-friendly bus tours, when offered to the public, sell out every time! With a knowledgable local guide, participants visit documented Underground Railroad sites, historic homes, and Quaker meetinghouses while learning about local abolitionists and anti-slavery activity in the Kennett Square area. The tour also presents the contributions of local African Americans and their faith communities in the quest for freedom from slavery.
Participants will meet the bus at the Brandywine Valley Tourism Information Center, 300 Greenwood Road, Kennett Square, PA 19348, at 11 am. The tour will run until 1:15 or 1:30 pm and end where it started. Members who are interested in carpooling, whether as a driver or passenger, should email Marianne at for coordination.
The discounted price for the tour is $15/person. The tour is limited to 22 APT members – if the slots do not fill up, we will open registration to guests of members and non-members who belong to the APT Meetup group. Register today by paying in the APT Store. It’s a really great opportunity – please join us!
