From the corporate suite to the marble steps on Chestnut Street – the evolution of a Philadelphia tour guide. APT member and founder of First Person Tours, Ned Drinker, kicks off the Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides’ next monthly meeting on Wednesday, December 14, discussing the Drinker family in Philadelphia, the Drinker’s Alley renaming initiative, and other projects. Ned will also host the December book club meeting which will feature Richard Godbeer‘s 2019 treatment of the journal of Elizabeth Drinker, World of Trouble: A Philadelphia Quaker Family’s Journey through the American Revolution. Ned is Elizabeth’s great, great, great, great grandson!
The meeting will begin at 7 pm at Philly’s Gourmet Steaks, 114 Market Street. Following a brief presentation and Q&A with Ned Drinker will be the APT Holiday Party. Light fare (including gluten free and vegan options) will be provided. Grab a drink when you arrive and save your appetite for the party goodies! Enjoy some relaxed social time with APT members. Wear your favorite ugly holiday sweater! Those not currently members are particularly encouraged to attend to chat with members and see if joining the association might be a good fit.
APT meetings are open to aspiring and working tour guides as well as anyone with an interest in Philadelphia-focused history. Attend one meeting for free and then it is $50 to join the association for the year or $10 per monthly meeting in-person event. Zoom meetings are free. Please join us for convivial company, good food, fascinating presentations, and lively discussions.
Early bird pricing now available for 2023 dues: $40 before Dec. 31 and $50 from January 1, 2023 on. Pay in the APT Store.
