On Wed. March 10, the Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides (APT) will kick off its monthly meeting at 7 pm with a lecture, “Connecting the Threads of Christ Church Philadelphia,” by Educational Consultant Mike Idriss.

Michael Idriss has been a tour guide in the Philadelphia market since 2018. He is currently a Visitor Engagement Associate and Educator at the Museum of the American Revolution and Educational Consultant at Christ Church Philadelphia. He got his start as a guide with Urban Adventures specializing in tours that highlight the city’s historical district. He was named North American Tour Hubs Guide of the Year last March in Mexico City. Michael graduated with honors from Temple University with a major in History and a minor in Africology/African American studies in May of 2019.

He is also tour director for Katika Experiences, a guide program that seeks to link the narratives and perspectives of Philadelphia’s African American community since their arrival into the city in 1684. Michael strives to ensure that each guest gets a sensory experience when he guides a tour. He is also a fan of all things Philadelphia including art, food and music scenes as well as its professional sports teams. When not working he enjoys spending time with his wife Abby and two-year-old son Jabari.

Following the talk will be the APT meeting and some social time on zoom. APT meetings are open to aspiring and working tour guides as well as anyone with an interest in Philadelphia-focused history. For the foreseeable future all meetings are free for anyone and all are welcome!
