Book Club for December

December 20, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The next session of the book club run by the Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides (APT) is set for Tuesday December 20 at 7 pm, on Zoom. The book will be Richard Godbeer‘s 2019 treatment of the journal of Elizabeth Drinker, World of Trouble: A Philadelphia Quaker Family’s Journey through the American Revolution. Anyone with an interest in the book is welcome; participants do not have to be members of APT. No registration or payment is required. Please come prepared to discuss the book.

As a Philadelphia tour guide or a student of colonial history, you may already know the fascinating story of Elizabeth Sandwith Drinker (1735-1807) who kept a diary from 1758 to 1807 while living on Drinker’s Alley, one block north of Elfreth’s Alley. World of Trouble is an intimate account of the American Revolution as seen through the eyes of a Quaker pacifist couple living in Philadelphia during a uniquely turbulent period of American history. The book club will be hosted by APT member Ned Drinker who is the great-great-great-great-grandson of Elizabeth Drinker.

Please join us! The zoom link will go out in the President’s email of the week of the book club.
