“Blacks in the Big Documents” with APT Master Guide Joe Becton
February 15 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
For the first 10-15 minutes of the meeting beginning at 7 pm, new President & CEO of Independence Visitor Center Corporation, Kathryn Ott Lovell, will speak on a new collaborative effort with APT to learn about and promote all of the tours that members offer while increasing visitors to the various visitor centers around town. Joe Becton should begin by 7:15 pm.
In honor of Black History Month, the Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides (APT) kicks off its February meeting on Thursday February 15 at 7 pm (please note that this is NOT the usual 2nd Wednesday meeting date due to Valentine’s Day) with a rare opportunity to hear APT Master Guide Joe Becton talk about “Blacks in the Big Documents,” with a focus on the Constitution. Anyone who has ever met this dynamic guide knows that a session with him is not to be missed! Come early for dinner and drinks. The meeting will be held in person at Philly’s Gourmet Steaks, 114 Market Street, and also offered on Zoom.
Following the presentation will be a short business meeting and some social time.
APT meetings are open to aspiring and working tour guides as well as anyone with an interest in Philadelphia-focused history. Attend one meeting for free and then it is $60 to join the association for the year or $10 per monthly meeting in-person event. Zoom meetings are free. Please join us for convivial company, good food, fascinating presentations, and lively discussions.
The meeting will also be livestreamed on Zoom. The link will be shared in the APT President’s email the week of the meeting. Non-members should email Marianne at no later than 5 pm the day of the meeting to receive the Zoom link.
