“Behind the Scenes at Carpenter’s Hall” with Alex Palma
December 9, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
A recording of this talk can be found on the APT Facebook page and APT YouTube channel.
On Wed. December 9, the Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides (APT) will hold its monthly meeting. It kicks off at 7 pm with a lecture, “Behind the Scenes at Carpenter’s Hall,” by Assistant Director there, Alex Palma.
Carpenter’s Hall hosted the First Continental Congress in 1774 and was home to Franklin’s Library Company, The American Philosophical Society, and the First and Second Banks of the United States. And as it’s been closed again since November 20 due to Covid-19, this is a treat to get inside for an in-depth virtual tour of both the lower and rarely seen upper levels.
In lieu of an in-person holiday party, a fun-filled evening of historical trivia with Quizzo will follow the lecture. APT Vice President Bob Skiba has donated some great prizes including:
* Watson, John Fanning “Annals of Philadelphia” 1830 (reprint)
* Miller, Vogel and Davis “Still Philadelphia”
* “Philadelphia, A 300 Year History”
* 11″x14″ framed reproductions of watercolor sites in Philly (Indy Hall and the Art Museum)
Funny, festive attire (glasses? hat? ugly sweater?) is encouraged and bring your own favorite holiday beverage!
APT meetings are open to aspiring and working tour guides as well as anyone with an interest in Philadelphia-focused history. For the foreseeable future all meetings are free for anyone and all are welcome!
APT has decided to waive 2021 membership fees for all 2020 members. New members are welcome to register for 2021 on the APT website. https://phillyguides.org/apt-membership-2/
