“Back to Camac!” with Bob Skiba

August 19, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

A recording of the talk is available on the APT Facebook page and APT YouTube channel

On Wed. August 19, APT Vice President Bob Skiba will present a lecture, “Back to Camac!”

Camac Street has several nicknames. There’s the familiar “Little Street of Clubs,” “Philadelphia’s Greenwich Village,” “Biggest Little Street in the World,” and more recently “Avenue of the Artists.” All of them reflect the fascinating and diverse history of this tiny thoroughfare.

Bob will touch on stories of artists, writers, photographers, bakers, Quakers, Bohemians, and whores; of key clubs, speakeasies, and wooden paving blocks; of the first privately owned automobile in the city and the oldest gay bar in the city.

A long-time tour guide, Bob also works as an archivist at the William Way LGBT Community Center.

The talk will be followed by some social time on Zoom.

The talk is free and all are welcome!

APT has decided to waive 2021 membership fees for all 2020 members. If you have not yet joined or renewed for 2020, now is the time!
